Clinical Supply Management

A specific area of expertise that requires us to manage the clinical supply chain more pro-actively and work directly with sponsor clinical teams.

Clinical supply management involves Almac taking a deeper responsibility for supply chain management by planning start up quantities of supply kits and continuous stock monitoring using patient enrolment data to plan resupply to the sites.

Full implementation of a CSM service with our partners is most successful where we are able to change the way in which we currently work together. For example, working directly with clinical teams and IVRS providers gives us access to information such as actual and projected recruitment so we can take these into consideration when designing supply strategies.

This approach is currently managed from our Durham site, although our strategy is to roll this service out to our other sites in the coming months.

Main benefits for our clients:

  • Close management of clinical supply inventories to drastically reduce pharmaceutical product wastage.
  • Incorporating our knowledge of re-supply timelines into our planning means that packaging campaigns are scheduled in advance, ensuring continuity of supply.
  • Our team works closely with third parties to ensure that interactions are managed in a manner that improves the overall supply chain.
  • By managing inventories, rather than simply responding to orders, we are able to supply patients, even when inventories are low.
